Upcoming PFO Patch Surgery

In the past I sort of dropped my health issues, and I figured I’d give an update. A little over a year ago I almost died due to a stroke while driving home. It was caused by a PFO, which is just a flap in the heart we all have prior to birth. For 90% of the population of that flap closes, and I was one of the lucky ones who kept it after birth. Aside from that no one really seems to know what happen, and I am not a doctor. Anyway, I scheduled the surgery for later this month. I will need to be on some medications still for about 6 months after the surgery, but by the end of the year I’ll go back to living life again. The surgery itself is not a big deal, and I will only be in the hospital for about 6 hours.

I do not want to trauma dump by any means, but I figured I’d be transparent. I won’t lie my mind has been all over the place these past few weeks. Ever since leaving for college life has been pretty rough. The good news is that I should be back to normal by the end of the year. I just figured I’d post a quick note that everything is fine before I go back to normal programming related content tomorrow. I’m not always the best about being fully open when it comes to personal stuff. In general though, people have a tendency to make things seem worse than they really are and that annoys me. Anyway, tomorrow and beyond it’s all programming related stuff.
